Help Us Find Out Why Bush is Spying on Peace Action: Support Barbara Lee's Resolution of Inquiry for Surveillance Documents

Thanks to Freedom of Information Act filing by our allies at the ACLU, we know for a fact that at least two Peace Action affliates and the national Student Peace Action Network have been spied upon by the Bush's FBI. That is why this Resolution of Inquiry, submitted by our ally Congresswoman Barbara Lee (D-CA), is of the upmost importance to us.

Here is the text of the resolution:

Requesting the President to provide to the House of Representatives certain documents in his possession relating to electronic surveillance without search warrants on individuals in the United States.

Resolved, That the President is requested to provide to the House of Representatives, not later than 14 days after the date of the adoption of this resolution, all documents in the possession of the President, including telephone and electronic mail records, logs, calendars, minutes, memoranda, and advisory legal opinions on, and identities of all individuals subject to, electronic surveillance without search warrants by the National Security Agency within the United States since September 11, 2001.

I may not be a member of your district, however as a member of the House Intelligence Committee you are entrusted to represent all Americans. That is why I am writing you to urge you to vote in favor of Congresswoman Barbara Lee's resolution of inquiry, H. Res 641. We, the American people, deserve to know the truth about Bush's NSA domestic spying program. According to information released under FOIA requests, the organization of which I am a member, Peace Action, had two of its state affiliates and it's student organization, Student Peace Action Network, spied upon by the executive branch. Why? I urge you to vote in favor of allowing this resolution to come before the House floor. We need this information from the Bush administration so we can then understand the extent of domestic spying operation and the danger to our democracy from the NSA domestic spying program.
