Stop the sale of junk food to school children!

Tell your governor and state legislators to pass legislation to implement the Childhood Obesity Prevention Agenda, which would ban the marketing and sale of junk food in schools.

Dear elected official:

Our children need your help.  They are suffering from an epidemic of obesity and type 2 diabetes.

It is wrong to allow soda pop, candy and fast food companies to market and sell junk food to our children in school.

Schools ought to stand on the side of parents in their effort to teach good & healthy values to children, not on the side of junk food marketers who teach unhealthy values.

I strongly urge you to do everything in your power to stop the marketing and sale of junk food in schools, and to introduce and pass legislation to implement the Childhood Obesity Prevention Agenda (www.commercialalert.org/copa.pdf).

The Childhood Obesity Prevention Agenda has been endorsed by leading authors, scientists and obesity experts from Harvard, Johns Hopkins, Stanford, Yale and other major research institutions, including Lawrence Cheskin (Director, Johns Hopkins Weight Management Center); Frances Moore Lappe (author, Diet for a Small Planet); Marion Nestle (author, Food Politics); Alvin Poussaint (Harvard Medical School); Walter Willett (Harvard School of Public Health).

It has also been endorsed by the American College of Preventive Medicine, Center for Science in the Public Interest, Eagle Forum, Organic Consumers Association, and the Yale Prevention Research Center.
