Riders of New York City’s subway will soon be assaulted by advertisements from every angle. The Metropolitan Transportation Agency has approved a plan to sell off nearly every surface on trains and in stations to advertisers. Proposals include “flip-book” ads inside train tunnels, television screens in stations, projections on station walls, panels on the sides of trains, and even ad wraps on turnstiles.
The New York City subway is a public entity and a public space. It should not be a vehicle to assault riders with endless commercials.
Tell the MTA to let commuters ride in peace, without ads forced on them at every turn.
Commercial Alert depends on a large and active group of volunteers.
We appreciate anyone willing to give his or her time and energy to help our campaigns.
